"Writing is easy. Just sit down at the typewriter and open a vein." Red Smith, Sportswriter |
| "Writing is easy. All you do is sit staring at a blank sheet of paper until drops of blood form on your forehead." Gene Fowler, Newspaperman | ||
Like Twain, Smith and Fowler, most authors I know will agree that little about the craft of writing is easy. |
That
doesn't mean the process isn't fun!
| Quite the opposite. Creating a fictional tale, putting words to paper, breathing life into imaginary characters is nothing if not an adventure, a journey. A hero's journey. Which brings me to the theme of this Web site. | ||
My
own writing journey.
More
than any other reference sources, Chris Vogler's THE
WRITER'S JOURNEY and Robert McKee's STORY
have influenced my Adventures in Authoring. I've been lucky enough, in
fact, to attend two of Mr. McKee's lectures and reap the benefits of Mr.
Vogler's seminar first hand.

So, I'd thought
I'd share bits and pieces of my life and my career as a published author
in a format that makes the most sense to me, reflecting the sort of progression
that lends itself to the constant updates that define an ongoing Hero's
Journey.

So, without further ado, on to my ORDINARY
WORLD!
